Stuff I Get Off On: Filthy Farmgirl Soap

I am obscenely obsessed with this all natural VEGAN FRIENDLY soap company called Filthy Farmgirl, for a variety of reasons. The first is their high-quality ingredients; they are made with saponified Vegetable Oils—Coconut, Castor and Safflower—and kosher Veggie Glycerin. They are free of all detergents, surfactants, sulfates, artificial scents, colorizers, and petroleum products AND the labels are printed on 100% recycled paper.

Second,  I am in love with their slogan, “Live Nakedly!” And, if I needed ANOTHER reason to be all up in their business, they have a raunchy line of soap—Filthy Cock, Super Cock, Filthy Balls, Filthy Pussy, Filthy Beaver—all with witty sayings on the back. The Filthy Beaver soap has a picture of a saucy beaver and reads “I’m a Busy Girl, But I’ve always got time to get Sleak and Fancy!” Can’t argue with that.

Even their non-raunch line is delicious, with flavors I want to eat like Raw Chocolate Rascal, Lavender Peppermint Chill, Tuberose Sweetgrass, etc. They have 69  flavors (hah!) so you can drool over them all on your own. They make the best gifts ever, even for dudes—Filthy Gentleman, Filthy Philosopher. I really just like the word “filthy,”—it’s basically 90% of the reason I drink martinis.

The OTHER reason I love this line of soap is because it sits close to home. My mom lives on the big island of Hawaii, in a hippie crunch town surrounded by hippie crunch folk. (And lots of meth heads. Whatever.) Her neighbor is super skilled children’s book author and illustrator Frank Asch, whose books I used to read when I was a kid. To get to the point, his son—who is also artistically gifted—and his girlfriend are the geniuses behind Filthy Farmgirl. The son illustrates the clever soap labels, and you will often see the same image of a man and woman on most of the designs, which are renditions of the real-life couple, who are very attractive, which is always nice.

There he is...Yum! (I snagged this pic from cause I am too shy to snap photos of soap making hunks)

They used to be really small-scale, selling only out of the local farmer’s market. Now I know they sell them in stores around the islands, and I have heard rumors they may be carried in some Whole Foods.

The soaps are fantastic, although because they are all natural they do leave ingredient chunks in your shower. Nothing like a load of ginger going down the drain, I always say.

If you are my friend, you have probably gotten a Filthy Farmgirl soap (or four) as a gift. If not, I probably don’t really like you that much, because I do tend to hoard them. Just kidding! Sort of. Check them out online because they ship fo’ free and give away free samples to orders over 12 dollars. I like free samples!

Tell me your fav sudsy products, please!
