On a yoga field trip to DC last weekend we stayed with the sister of my yoga teacher, Donna. Her sister’s hubby is a running junkie and turned me onto chia seeds, a great vegan source of Omega-3’s, fiber, protein and calcium. They claim to be superior to flax, my traditional Omega-3 go-to fuel. Advertised as “Running Food,” I even got a little packet to take home with me. Score! I put them in my oatmeal the next morning instead of flax, and aside from a slightly nutty taste I could barely tell I had added anything at all. I also enjoy the name, as it reminds me of the old-school Chia Pet slogan from my childhood. Sighhh.
