So a couple of weeks ago I graduated college. Like most milestones (birthdays, anniversaries) the best part is the celebration that comes with it. This weekend I had a graduation party, where I snuck in lots of vegan treats without telling anyone to see who would notice. Aside from the obvious salads and veggie burgers, there was also a vegan ‘Ooey Gooey Cheese’ dip and vegan chocolate peanut butter cups, both courtesy of Alicia Silverstone’s The Kind Diet. However, the best hidden vegan snack was actually made by my goddess of a mother, who is a phenomenal pastry chef. This vegan chocolate coconut cake was just as delicious as it was beautiful, and at the end of the meal when the surprise (“Guess what!? It’s vegan!”) was delivered I heard a few “there was tofu in what?” comments bouncing about. I felt like a sly, sneaky vegan, because all the vegan eats were devoured so my (very non vegan) fam must have enjoyed them.
